Privacy Policy
LiveHosts is in the process of forming its legal entity. Once that completes, this page will name the entity and its governing state. The commitments below apply now regardless.
This explains what LiveHosts collects when you use our marketplace for TikTok Shop live shopping, why we collect it, and who else sees it. We have tried to describe what the product actually does rather than list every category a lawyer could imagine.
Who this covers
Two kinds of people use LiveHosts: hosts, who go live and sell, and brands and agencies, who hire them. Some information is collected from both; where it differs, we say so.
What we collect
Everyone. Your name and email address, and whether your account is a host or a brand account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and profile photo from Google — never your Google password.
Hosts. Your public profile: display name, city, profile photo, the product categories you work in, your background and bio, TikTok handle, a link to a clip of your work, your rate range and pay preferences, and whether you travel. We also store the approximate latitude and longitude of the city you enter, so brands can search by location.
Host mailing addresses. If a brand needs to ship you product samples, we collect a full mailing address. This is the most sensitive thing we hold about hosts, so it is treated differently: it is only disclosed to a brand after they have accepted you for a specific job, and only to that brand. Browsing brands never see it.
Brands and agencies. Company name, the contact's first and last name, city, logo, website, the categories and budget ranges you hire in, and the jobs you post.
Everyone, as you use the product. Job applications and the rates proposed, countered and agreed; messages and any files you attach to them; the sessions you book and the hours and sales reported for them.
Subscription billing (brands and agencies). We do not store card numbers. Card details go directly to Stripe, our payment processor. We keep a record of your plan, what was charged and when, and Stripe's identifiers for it. Hosts are paid by the brand directly rather than through us, so we hold no payment details for hosts and no record of what a brand actually paid them.
How we use it
- Running the marketplace: showing host profiles to brands, job postings to hosts, and connecting the two.
- Billing: charging brands and agencies for their subscription.
- Keeping the record: what a host and a brand agreed, and the hours logged afterwards, so both sides have the same picture.
- Telling you what happened: application decisions, booking confirmations, message notifications, timesheet reminders.
- Understanding and improving the product — see “Analytics and session recordings” below.
- Keeping the platform safe and dealing with disputes.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your messages to train machine-learning models.
Who else sees it
Other people on the platform. Published host profiles are visible to anyone, including people who are not signed in — that is the point of a marketplace. Your messages are visible to the person you are messaging. Your mailing address is visible only to a brand who has accepted you, as described above.
Companies that run parts of the service for us. They may only use the data to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles sign-in
- Vercel — hosts and serves the website
- Stripe — processes subscription billing
- Resend — sends our email notifications
- Google — Maps and Places for city and address lookup, and Google sign-in if you use it
- PostHog — product analytics and session recordings
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Analytics and session recordings
We record how people use LiveHosts — pages visited and actions taken — to understand where the product is confusing and to fix it. These recordings mask everything you type, along with message contents, rates and contact details. We do not record payment card details; payments are handled by Stripe on their own systems.
Cookies and local storage
We use browser storage to keep you signed in between visits, to remember whether you prefer the light or dark theme, and for the analytics described above. We do not run advertising trackers.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Records we have to be able to account for — subscription billing, and the record of sessions and hours — are kept longer.
Your choices
You can edit or delete most of your profile at any time from your account, and a host can unpublish their profile so it no longer appears in search. You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. If you are a California resident, you have these rights under the CCPA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
Email us and we will action it.
Children
LiveHosts is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you by email.
